Pct. 4 Comal County Constable Shane Rapp, fifth from left, says he is active in community outreach. In July, he participated in the county's annual Protect & Serve Mixer at Rio Guadalupe Resort.

Precinct 4 Comal County Constable Shane Rapp on Friday said he will seek another four-year term, officially declaring his candidacy for the March 3, 2020, Republican primary election.

On Facebook he said a date for his campaign kickoff party will be announced soon.

Constables are certified peace officers with the same enforcement powers as other peace offers. They often actively participate in criminal investigations, focus on truancy cases and serve as bailiff for the justice courts, serving subpoenas and papers according to mycomalcounty.com.

The Pct. 4 Constable’s Office also provides law-enforcement services for the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County from May through September, the area’s peak tourism season.

Rapp, who began his career as a reserve deputy constable and was elected to his first term as Pct. 4 county constable in 2005, said he will work to build new programs and develop community relations, adding he is routinely called upon by fellow officers to answer questions, give advice or provide assistance.

Past accomplishments, he said, include building relationships with citizens, community leaders, county business owners, and civic organizations.

On his campaign reelection website, Rapp also describes himself as a God-fearing man who is not shy about his faith and isn’t afraid to pray in public or preach the gospel.
