Comal County’s Startzville Recycling Center will reopen Tuesday, June 6 at 691 Canyon Springs Dr., a property located on a 6.378-acre tract of land owned by the Canyon Springs Resort POA.
The center will be open from 6:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays.
The original facility, located at 160 Oblate Dr., closed in January after Comal County ESD 3, better known as Canyon Lake Fire/EMS, announced plans to build a new facility there.
Comal County commissioners approved the new location at their weekly meeting Thursday.
County Judge Sherman Krause commended the POA for stepping up to the plate.
Pct. 1 Commissioner Donna Eccleston also gave a “big shout out” to the POA.
“It’s been a long time coming, we’re very grateful to the POA who extended the invitation to look at their site, and I know a lot of people were frustrated, having to go farther away, but we are very, very pleased that we have this site cause as you know it’s very difficult to find a place up at the lake,” she said.
Canyon Springs Resort’s POA will rent the property to the county for $10/month.
