Register for May 6 Elections

Share

Voters head to the polls May 6 to decide the fate of a $263.5 million Comal ISD bond referendum that would add two new high schools to the rapidly growing school system.

The deadline for registering to vote is Thursday, April 6. according to Comal County Elections Office.

Voters who wish to vote by mail must request a ballot by Tuesday, April 25.

“We do all we can to help the districts have a smooth election process, and we always encourage voters to come to the polls and make their voices heard,” said Cynthia Jaqua, Comal County elections coordinator.

Those who were registered to vote in the November elections and have not changed their address remain registered to vote in May, Jaqua said. Voting by mail is only open to those who are at least 65 years old or are disabled, and the annual applications expire Dec. 31.

In-person early voting in the elections will be April 24-May 2, with polls open for Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6.

Polling places and ballots are determined by the school districts and are available on their websites, comalisd.org and nbisd.org.

Also on the ballot are contested seats on the boards of trustees for Comal and New Braunfels Independent School districts.

Each district runs its own election and determines its polling places; however, the Comal County Elections Office provides materials and helps the districts hire poll workers. Election deadlines are set by state law.
