Registration Opens for Landscape Class

Learn about the value of including and preserving natives in landscapes at Native Plant Society of Texas Lindheimer Chapter's Level 1 Introduction to Native Landscapes. It's the first in a three-part series required for native landscape certification.

Registration is now open for Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) Lindheimer Chapter’s Level 1 Introduction to Native Landscapes class.

The day-long class runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at Tye Preston Memorial Library, 16311 South Access Rd., Canyon Lake, and includes two classroom sessions and an outdoor plant identification walk.

Participants will learn:

  • the value of including and preserving natives in landscapes
  • the differences between conventional and sustainable (with natives) landscaping
  • about Texas vegetation region and soils
  • about 45 native Texas plants for your landscape and five plants to avoid

Level 1 is a prerequisite for levels 2 and 3 in NPSOT’s Native Landscape Certification Program. The course is worth six CEUs for the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA) and seven hours of advanced training for Texas master naturalists.
