River Road Laundry’s Grand Reopening Set for Saturday

Share
Teresa and Dino Taccogna are the new owners of River Road Laundry, now billed as the 'Cutest Little Laundromat in Texas.'

Thirty-year-old River Road Laundry, 14325 River Road, New Braunfels officially reopens with new owners and new amenities on Saturday.

Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kim Collora and Pct. 4 County Commissioner Jen Crownover will help new owners Dino and Teresa Taccogna celebrate at a socially distanced ribbon-cutting ceremony from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Live music and free food are planned.

The Taccognas purchased the laundromat earlier this year and gave it a complete overhaul that includes a handpainted mural.

On its website, the couple bills the facility as “the cutest little laundromat in Texas” and promises customers will find its atmosphere inviting. They hope its more upscale look-and-feel will attract locals, tourists and winter Texans. Owners of rental properties will find its commercial-sized laundry machines convenient for washing quilts and comforters, they said.

“We bought the laundromat excited to create a comfortable, clean and safe environment for our customers,” Teresa Taccogna said. “We have invested our time, money, heart and passion to improve the facility to serve the local and tourist community.”

Services also include wash-and-fold cleaning. Dry cleaning will be added in the near future.

Upgrades include:

  • Central air conditioning
  • All new top-loaders and large-capacity machines
  • New restroom facilities
  • New paint
  • New ceiling, light fixtures and lighting
  • New vending machine, coin machine and games for kids
  • Free Wifi
  • ATM

The Taccognas work in IT and still commute back and forth from Chicago. They bought a house in Canyon Lake in 2013 after visiting Teresa’s aunt and uncle, Elsa and Gennaro Dimeo, who own Gennaro’s Tratorria in Canyon Lake and New Braunfels.

Teresa is a Houston native who hoped to return to Texas someday. Dino, who immigrated to the United States from Italy at age seven, decided Canyon Lake looked a bit like his native land.
