A 12-year-old boy pulled from the Guadalupe River in the 500 block of Peace Avenue at Cypress Bend Park in New Braunfels around 3:40 p.m. today is in critical condition at a San Antonio-area hospital.
The child was in the river with family when he went under the surface of the water for an unknown amount of time.
City of New Braunfels Park Rangers who arrived at the scene began lifesaving measures before first responders with the New Braunfels Fire Department and New Braunfels Police Department arrived.
The victim, a San Antonio resident, was transported by ground EMS to Resolute Hospital where he was stabilized then flown by helicopter to San Antonio.
A preliminary investigation reveals no sign of foul play. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
