Saturday’s Christmas Parade in Sattler Canceled

Rain, rain is not going away according to the latest weather forecast, so the 40th Annual Canyon Lake Noon Lions Christmas Parade in Sattler on Saturday has been canceled.
The parade is the largest in Comal County and is hugely popular with area residents.
Canyon Lake Noon Lions Club President Diane Schaule said her organizations is notifying all parade participants and other parties involved.
“Canyon Lake Noon Lions very regretfully cancelled the annual Christmas parade due to the forecasted heavy rainfall expected all day Friday and into early Saturday morning,” she said. “It cannot be rescheduled due to many other holiday activities in the area. We erred on the side of caution for the safety of participants and observers.”
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, no other other holiday celebrations in Canyon Lake are canceled.
Early Thursday, the U.S. National Weather Service for Austin-San Antonio issued a flash flood watch. Locally heavy rainfall is possible Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Comal County is included in the watch area.
A cold front and potent upper-level system are forecast to move across the area, producing rainfall amounts of three to five inches across the eastern Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor, and four to six inches east of I-35 and I-37. Rainfall is expected to end late Friday night from west to east and clear the area by Saturday morning.
Hill Country Yacht Club’s annual boat Parade of Lights also is canceled but for non-weather-related reasons.

Feed the kids before the parade! For $5, they can enjoy pancakes, a side, and coffee/hot chocolate. $10 for adults. The fun’s from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 over at Mountain Valley Middle School Cafeteria, 1165 Sattler Rd, Sattler/Canyon Lake.

Handcrafted items by local artists, unique gifts, food and seasonal drinks. Textiles, jewelry, fine art, live music, treats and furniture specials.
