Schools Send Out more COVID-19 Warnings to Parents on Monday

Mountain Valley Elementary School parents were notified on Monday that two members of the “campus community” experienced symptoms of COVID-19 while in the building and left school.

In an email, Principal Andrea Patrick said Comal ISD by law cannot divulge identifiable information about the individuals.

Church Hill Middle School Principal Terri Duncan also emailed faculty and staff with the news that four members of the campus community also experienced symptoms of COVID-19 and left campus on Monday after being isolated.

These are only the emails MyCanyonLake.com is aware of, however Comal ISD updates its COVID-19 Active Case Management dashboard daily.

There also are unconfirmed reports that an entire classroom at Oak Creek Elementary School was exposed to COVID-19 at Oak Creek Elementary School, which is now reporting one current active positive case and 28 current active exposure-to-a-positive cases.

Today, there are eight current positive cases districtwide, 66 current symptomatic cases districtwide, and 68 current exposure-to-a-positive cases districtwide.

On Aug. 26, Comal ISD reported five active cases, 44 current symptomatic cases, and 35 current-to-a-positive cases districtwide.

Comal ISD does not use the same language to report cases as county.

DEFINITIONS:

Current active positive cases — lab-confirmed positive case is an individual who receives a positive test result

Current active symptomatic cases — experiencing symptoms including feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100-degrees Fahreheit; loss of taste or smell, cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath; fatigue; headache; chills; sore throat, congestion or runny nose; shaking or exaggerated shivering; significant muscle pain or ache; diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.

Current active exposure to a positive cases — close contact with a lab-confirmed cases is defined as either of the following occurring at any time in the lat 14 days when the infected individual was infectious 1. being directly exposed to fluids from the mouth or nose, such as being coughed on or 2. being within six feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes; individuals are presumed infectious at least two days prior to symptom onset or, in the case of asymptomatic individuals who are lab-confirmed with COVID-19, two days prior to the confirming lab test.
