Canyon Lake Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Justin Lowth said searchers with the fire department, Comal County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will rotate crews on Canyon Lake throughout the day.
The fire department is using sonar on its Marine 53 vessel to search for Rodriguez as well as visually monitoring the lake from the shore.
TPWD spokesperson Kirk McDonnell said game wardens will use side-scan sonar equipment in its patrol boats today in an attempt to locate Rodriguez’s body.
The state agency also provides security perimeter for the New Braunfels Fire Department’s dive team when it’s in the water alongside Marine 3.
“We are utilizing the local dive team for underwater search,” he said.
New Braunfels divers searched two areas on Sunday and Monday, McDonnell said. The divers are not in the lake today but will remain on standby.
TPWD will produce a final water-fatality investigation report.
“We will continue to work in conjunction with our local first responders CCSO and Canyon Fire/EMS until the victim is located or resurfaces,” he said.
Rodriguez’s cousin, Vanessa Vargas of Tulsa, asked the public to contact her family with any information.
“We’re all worried about him and still hope to find him alive,” she said.
