Search Still Underway for Wimberley Man Presumed Drowned in Canyon Lake

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Game Warden Capt. Javier Fuentes said the search resumed this morning for 47-year-old Steven Johnson of Wimberley, who walked into Canyon Lake near Boat Ramp #17 on Wednesday.
Fuentes said TPWD game wardens are sweeping the area using side-scan sonar equipment. Canyon Lake Fire/EMS and Comal County Sheriff’s Office deputies are assisting in the search.
A TPWD K-9 Unit cadaver-trained dog will join the search Saturday if Johnson’s body is not recovered today.
Divers with the New Braunfels Fire Department were in the water on Wednesday.
Boat Ramp No. 17, also known as the Little Jacobs Creek ramp, is located on the north side of Canyon Lake right off FM 306.
