A spokesperson for the Comal County Sheriff's Office says friends drove a 17-year-old male who was shot in the back during a drug deal gone bad to this emergency room in Bulverde.

Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating the Friday night shooting of a 17-year-old male in the area of Overlook and Flintstone Drive in Canyon Lake.

Spokesperson Jennifer Smith said a preliminary investigation revealed the victim, two 18-year-olds and one 20-year-old were in the area for a possible drug transaction when the shooting occurred.

She said deputies responded to a call about a gunshot victim at the Physicians Premier medical facility in the 20,000 block of State Highway 46 at around 9 p.m. Friday evening.

They learned the victim was shot in the back while sitting inside a black Volkswagen Passat with his friends. The friends drove him to Physicians Premier. From there he was transported to University Hospital and is expected to recover.

No arrests have been made and no suspects or suspect vehicles have been identified. The vehicle was taken to the CCSO’s impound lot for processing.
