Sixteen New COVID-19 Cases, One Death Reported Thursday in Comal County

Comal County confirmed the COVID-19 death of a New Braunfels man in his 70s today.
He died at a San Antonio hospital on Dec. 4, becoming the 474th resident to die of the virus.
In a statement, Comal County also reported 16 new cases of COVID-19.
County hospitals are caring for four COVID-positive patients. Two are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator. None of these patients are vaccinated. Not all COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the county are necessarily residents.
Some 61.49% of Comal County residents are fully vaccinated (two shots).
Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and up. Booster vaccines also are available.
