Bulverde-based SJRC Texas now offers “fatherhood support services” for Comal County residents.

“Fatherhood EFFECT” funding supports male caregivers through parent education, resources and collaborative efforts with community coalitions, the nonprofit said in a statement.

SJRC Texas’ fatherhood initiative aims to improve the quality of support services for fathers and promote inclusive practices across local organizations and communities.

The program is open to fathers and father figures who are expecting a child or have at least one child between the ages of birth and 17. Services are free for eligible families.

“We are excited to expand our services and provide tailored support to fathers in Comal and Victoria counties,” SJRC Texas Chief Impact Officer Jaci Gonzales said. “This program will empower fathers to play a more active role in their children’s lives and create lasting positive impacts for families in these communities.”

SJRC Texas, formerly known as St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, serves children and teenagers in the foster care system using a trauma-informed model of care.

SJRC Texas provides residential foster care, foster-and-adoption services, and a parent education and family enrichment program through its Family Resource Center in New Braunfels. It also partners with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to provide community-based care for youth in 27 counties. BELONG serves children removed from their homes.
