Kids! Follow in the steps of prehistoric giants who once roamed Canyon Lake at a series of summer camps scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25 and July 3 at The Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country, 4831 FM 2673.
Two other camps are scheduled from July 5-9 and July 12-16.
The programs are open to children ages five to 15.
The day camp includes practice in digging up fossils and learning about paleontology.
Subsequent camps will focus on finding fossils, geology and the Texas Hil Country, and tracking wildlife.
Each program follows STEAM curiculum and includes games, exploration-and-discovery while “encouraging values such as teamwork and trust, problem-solving, stewardship and the core routines of outdoor education and nature connections,” according to the museum.
Cost is $45 and is first-come, first-serve. Masks are mandatory. Children should bring a morning snack, lunch, and water bottle — bug spray, hap/cap and sunscreen are optional.
