Thirty-three-year-old New Braunfels resident Abby Lynn Houston was killed in a head-on collision on FM 306 in Canyon Lake Sunday afternoon while trying to evade Comal County sheriff's deputies.

Comal County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car crash that killed a 33-year-old New Braunfels woman and injured three others early Sunday afternoon during a high-speed chase along FM 306 in Canyon Lake.

Deputies were responding to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 500 block of Shady Hollow in River Chase when they learned 33-year-old suspect Abby Lynn Houston had already fled the scene, pulling her gray Dodge minivan out of River Chase and onto FM 306.

She was trying to pass another vehicle but collided, head on, with a Ford F-250. Three people in that car were transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Unconfirmed accounts on social media place the accident in the vicinity of Link Fuller Auction Services, 17290 FM 306 in Canyon Lake.

According to a press release issued by Comal County Sheriff’s Office, Houston left the residence before deputies arrived at approximately 12:54 p.m., but was spotted on FM 306 by “Comal County Direct Deployment” units.

Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers also are investigating the incident.
