Tables du Jour Raises Funds for TPML

Share
Guests at Sept. 27-28 Tables du Jour fundraiser by Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library will be treated to intricately designed dinner tables like this one, from the "First Edition" of Tables du Jour in 2015: "The inspiration for Mr. McGregor's Garden started with finding the pattern for the carrots which became chair backs for an Easter table. Everything needs more than one purpose so what fun to create a special garden for Peter Rabbit. Spring is in the air and this tablescape will make you want to go home to start your garden. Designer Laurie Oberg encourages you to enjoy each detail of the table and imagine Peter Rabbit and all his antics with Mr. McGregor." Image by Scott Mozisek

Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library (TPML) are using a “novel idea” from 2015 to raise money for Canyon Lake’s library.

Tables du Jour returns Sept. 27-28, turning TPML into a four-star fundraiser.

Tables elaborately decorated by area residents and businesses are the highlight of Friday night’s happy-hour preview, from 6 to 9 p.m. at TPML, 16311 South Access Rd., Canyon Lake. The evening also includes a silent auction. Tickets are $10. Attendees will receive a special bookmark.

A luncheon sponsored by Silver Sage Grill follows on Saturday. The event is by invitation only.

Four years ago, the “first edition” of Tables du Jour raised $3,000 for the library.

Connie Howard, vice president of fundraising for Friends of Tye Preston Memorial Library, said more recent projects funded by her non-profit include musical instruments, upgrades to the library’s famed Butterfly Garden, and other projects for children.

“The goal of the Friends’ fundraising is to bring in the funds necessary to enhance our community’s library.”

Friends also help support special events at the library, Howard said.
