TEA Provides Comal ISD with Masks, Other COVID-19 PPE

Texas Education Agency is providing Comal ISD with disposable masks and other personal protection equipment (PPE) for the upcoming school year.

Comal ISD Executive Director of Communications Steve Stanford confirmed on Tuesday that the Texas Education Agency has provided the district with

  • 221,864 disosable masks
  • 55,466 reusable masks
  • 89,896 gloves
  • 184 thermometers
  • 2,611 gallons of hand sanitizer
  • 2,644 face shields

According to its WEBSITE, Comal ISD has 321,864 disposable facemasks and 59,295 reusable face masks available for students. Parents are able to purchase personalized washable (cloth), face coverings/shield or daily disposable masks that cover the nose and mouth.

At a press conference Tuesday, Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott outlined efforts the state is taking to support regions hard hit by COVID-19 and announced 755,000 masks, 62,000 gallons of hand sanitizer and 118,000 gloves were shipped to Jefferson County.

Abbott said he wanted to keep Jefferson County as safe as possible until treatments and vaccines for the virus become available.
