Comal County commissioners Thursday accepted checks from Canyon Lake Girls Softball Association (CLGSA) and Canyon Lake Little League for upgrades at Hidden Valley Sports Park on Mabel Jones Dr.
CLGSA submitted a check for $3,500 to relocate a batting cage built within a Pedernales Electric Cooperative easement without the county’s consent.
County will amend the lease by changing the boundaries of the area it sub-leases to the sports league. The county leases the land from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), which owns the land around Canyon Lake.
Any changes will require formal approval from the Corps.
The county also accepted a $1,392 donation from Canyon Lake Little League to pay for electrical service to a temporary food truck.
County Engineer Robert Boyd said the 2024 budget includes funds for a new concession stand. The old concession stand sustained water damage over the winter break. There is now “tons” of mold in the old stand.
