Thursday: County Confirms Five New COVID-19 Cases, Number of Active Cases Drops Below 100

The number of active confirmed-and-probable COVID-19 cases in Comal County dropped to 95 today. Of them, nine are hospitalized.
In a statement, the county also confirmed five new probable cases of the virus, bringing the county’s total to 3,534.
The seven-day positivity rate for Comal County is 6.88%. The State of Texas’ rate is 8.09%.
There are an additional 11 COVID-19 recoveries in Comal County. The total recovered is 3,323.
County hospitals reported caring for five COVID-19 patients; of those, two are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator. Not all of these patients are necessarily county residents; likewise, not all county residents hospitalized with COVID-19 are in Comal County hospitals.

- 26,014 tests conducted
- 2,766 confirmed cases
- 768 probable cases
Probable Cases
“Probable cases” is a category established by the Texas Department of State Health Services to describe those who do not have a positive PCR test for COVID-19, but meet two of the following three criteria:
- A positive quick-result antigen test
- Experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- Close contact with a confirmed positive COVID-19 case
A probable case is treated identically to a confirmed case and counts toward the county’s positivity rate and total case tally.
