Comal County Fire Marshal’s Office and Comal County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a pre-dawn blaze at a Canyon Lake mobile home park off Cranes Mill Road that killed two men and their pet today.

Firefighters with Comal County ESD No. 3 who arrived at the scene in the 300 block of Dreamland around 4:15 a.m. reported flames shooting from within a single-wide mobile home.

According to a press release issued by Fire Chief Darren Brinkkoeter, a neighbor who met the firefighters told them occupants might still be inside.

As firefighters worked their way into the structure, they located a man in the rear bedroom who was taken out and treated by medics. The victim was transported to Christus New Braunfels where he was pronounced dead by an attending physician at 5:08 p.m.

A second man was found dead, with severe burns.

Identities of the two men have not yet been released pending notification of next-of-kin.

The fire was under control by 4:46 a.m.

Officials say there were no working smoke detectors inside the home, and that extension cords were hooked up to one or more space heaters.
