Parking areas for the Guadalupe Trail and the Canyon Lake Stilling Basin will be closed Friday, April 9 through Sunday, April 11 for maintenance work.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) said it anticipates the parking lots will reopen on Monday, April 12.
“We understand large numbers of people use the areas to enjoy the great outdoors, but for the safety of all visitors, including pets enjoying a walk with their owner, we will be restricting access until the work is completed,” said Canyon Lake Manager Javier Perez Ortiz.
As a reminder, all visitors to USACE parks and facilities are asked to practice ‘leave-no-trace,’ use designated trash receptacles and always wear life jackets while boating or hanging out near the water.
USACE follows Centers for Disease Control guidelines regarding social distancing.
Visitors, volunteers and employees must wear face masks in all USACE buildings and facilities. Masks are required outdoors, as well, on USACE-managed lands and recreation areas where physical distancing isn’t possible.
This includes hiking on trails or visiting sites that may be popular or crowded.
Visitors actively engaged in water-related activities with a clear and immediate risk of masks becoming wet may temporarily forgo wearing masks.
These activities may include but are not limited to swimming, waterskiing, riding on personal watercraft, kayaking and other boating-related activities that present a clear and immediate risk to the mask becoming wet.
