USACE Ceases Water Releases Thursday

Share
USACE announced on Wednesday it's turning off the tap at Canyon Dam on Thursday. All water releases will be halted for most of the day. Tubing is not recommended.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Canyon Lake will cease all water releases from Canyon Lake starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6 to accomplish a routine inspection of the outlet works stilling basin.

Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORDCC) says although the Guadalupe River will not dry up, tubing is not recommended.

Inspection activities will include a complete dewatering of the outlet works area and may take up to six hours for the inspection.

Water flows will be reduced during this time but should be back to safe recreational discharge amounts later in the day.

In a statement, USACE said it understands the impacts to recreation activities and appreciates the patience of everyone impacted while USACE performs this routine inspection.
