The Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Tuesday said Overlook Park and Canyon Dam Service Road will remain closed through Sept. 30.

Those areas of Canyon Lake closed to the public on Dec. 2, 2024 and were expected to reopen March 31.

USACE cited “necessary contract work” as the reason for the decision.

“We understand that this closure may be an inconvenience to some, but public safety is our top priority,” said USACE Canyon Lake Manager Brett Mazey. “We appreciate the public’s understanding and patience and encourage visitors to explore nearby alternatives such as North Park campground and the Madrone, Hancock and Guadalupe Trails.”

North Park is open to the public for walking, jogging, running, and bicycling from 8 a.m. to sunset Monday through Thursday.
