U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced in a press release today they are leasing Comal Park to Water Oriented Recreation District (WORD) of Comal County.
WORD did not immediately provide details about reasons for this change in operations.
“We know there will be many questions and we will be issuing much more information to the public soon,” Mike Dussere, WORD’s general manager, said. “We thank you for your patience as we finalize this transition and prepare for the Park to open.”
USACE Canyon Lake Manager Javier Pérez Ortiz said WORD will be an “excellent steward” for Comal Park and will provide “an exceptional recreational experience” for residents and visitors.
WORD said it will release additional information next week.
Questions regarding Comal Park operations should now be addressed to WORD of Comal County, 830-907-2300 or info@wordcc.com.
