March is Women's History Month. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says identity months are now "dead" in the military. This DEI-related image posted March 8, 2021 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District's Facebook page was still there Friday.

The Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), which owns and operates Canyon Lake, Friday said it is removing or modifying any social-media content that doesn’t comply with President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders regarding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

On Facebook, the district said the move aligns with U.S. Department of Defense policies and priorities.

“As a result, certain posts have been removed, are in a process of being removed or modified to maintain consistency with federal guidance and uphold the integrity of our official communications,” USACE said. “The district remains committed to transparency, professionalism and adherence to DoD directives while continuing to engage with our community in a manner that reflects our core values.”

Any content removed will be archived.

The Fort Worth District also posts to Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

As of Friday there were 14 ‘DEI’-related images still on the district’s Facebook page.

In a Jan. 27 executive order on Whitehouse.gov, Trump said DEI programs and their “attendant race and sex preferences” undermine leadership and “violate Americans’ consciences by engaging in invidious race and sex discrimination.”

These actions negatively impact leadership, merit, and unit cohesion; and erode “lethality” and force readiness, he said.

A press release posted by Army Public Affairs on army.mil Thursday said the U.S. Army will move quickly to comply with presidential executive orders issued since Jan. 20.

An article about that press release, posted on Military.com, said those orders have military officials scrambling.

If they can’t remove all mentions that promote DEI by March 5, officials must “temporarily remove from public display” all content published during the Biden administration.

Despite his executive orders, Trump declared February 2025 National Black History Month and met with golf legend Tiger Woods in the White House Feb. 21.

A Jan. 31 press release issued by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared “identity months” dead in the military because they erode camaraderie and threaten mission execution.

March is Women’s History Month.
