Voter Registration Drive Extended

Share

League of Women Voters of the Comal Area (LWV-CA) will extend its activities from Sept. 26 to Sept. 28 so that volunteers can help citizens register or update their registrations at two libraries, four high schools and the Comal County Election Center.

“The League is committed to making democracy work for everyone, and registering to vote and voting is fundamental,” says Roxanna Deane, president of the LWV-CA.

Since 2012, over 1.4 million people have registered to vote or updated their registration as part of National Voter Registration Day, celebrated annually on the fourth Tuesday in September. The League is one of over 2,000 groups mobilizing nationwide to register voters on Sept. 26. LWV-CA members have been trained and certified to serve as Volunteer Deputy Registrars by county election officials.

“This is a great opportunity for those of you new to the area, new to voting, or just needing to update their registration,” she says.

On Sept. 26, LWV-CA volunteers will be at the Comal County Election Center at 396 N. Sequin Ave, New Braunfels from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the New Braunfels Library at 700 E Common St, New Braunfels from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and at four Comal Independent School District high schools during lunch hour: Smithson Valley High School at 14001 TX-46, Spring Branch; Canyon High School at 1510 N Interstate 35, New Braunfels; Canyon Lake High School at 555 RR-32, Fischer, and Memorial Early College High School at 1419 N Business IH 35, New Braunfels.

On Sept. 28, LWV-CA will register voters at the Westside Community Center Library at 2932 S Interstate 35, New Braunfels, from 10-1.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWV never supports or opposes candidates for office, or political parties.
