Stay out of the Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake dam today — or drown.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Natural Resource Specialist Samuell Price said this afternoon that the river is cresting at a rate of 1,500 cubic feet per second (cfs). Before heavy rains pounded Canyon Lake this morning, the flow rate @Sattler was 67.7 cfs.
“It’s the type of water that will drown you if you get into it,” he said.
USACE’s Canyon Lake office in Overlook Park, an official National Oceanic and Atmospheric (NOAA) weather station, recorded 6.5 inches of rain since 7 a.m.
Meanwhile, spectacular waterfalls are reported coming off the hills near Guadalupe Trail, which Price said is safe and open.
