The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for Canyon Lake and surrounding areas from midnight tonight until 10 a.m. Monday.
Very cold wind chills from 12 to 20 degrees are expected in a portion of south central Texas.
Extreme temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves.
Near critical fire weather conditions are expected for the Rio Grande Plains, Edwards Plateau, Hill Country and I-35/I-37 corridors between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with low humidity, breezy winds and dry vegetation.
Outdoor burning is not recommended during this period. Comal County remains under a burn ban.
Freezing Forecast
Temperatures are unseasonably warm ahead of today’s cold front, but breezy winds will follow behind the front with temperatures cooling quickly after nightfall.
Temperatures will fall from around 38 degrees Fahrenheit at midnight to 29 degree by 7 a.m. Monday.
The weather service said chilly temperatures are expected this week, with lows dropping into the 20s for much of the region.
A mix of rain and wintry precipitation is possible Thursday and Friday, mainly north of US-90, though the location and type of precipitation remains highly uncertain.
