The U.S. National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio upgraded an earlier Fire Danger Statement issued this morning to a Red Flag Warning in effect today through 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
This official weather alert means warm temperatures, very low humidities and stronger winds are expected to combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.
Winds of 10-20 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph, combined with relatively low humidity, are expected.
The public is advised to follow local burn bans, properly discard cigarettes, avoid outdoor burning, driving on dry grass and any activities that could cause sparks.
Unincorporated Comal County remains under a burn ban.
