What If … the Government Shuts Down?

Share
The federal government may shut down, but recreational areas and camp sites around Canyon Lake that are maintained by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers won't.

What happens if U.S. senators can’t muster 60 votes tonight to avoid a looming shutdown of the federal government?

Nothing, around Canyon Lake anyway.

Recreational areas and camp sites will remain open, according to Clayton Williams, public affairs specialist with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees Canyon Lake’s office.

“Past lapse in funding have impacted recreational opportunities at our projects; however, the Fort Worth District will maintain normal operations in the event of a government shutdown,” he said on Friday. “Lake offices will close Christmas Eve and Christmas but recreational areas and camp sites will remain open.”
