Last week, the United Way of Comal County (UWCC) wrote a $5,000 check to help the Community Resource & Recreation Center of Comal County (CRRC) pay for repairs to area homes damaged by broken water pipes during February’s freeze.
That donation pushed the agency’s contributions to CRRC over the $1 million mark.
CRRC Development Director Maureen Schein said since 2005, UWCC’s funding has played a huge role in helping the Canyon Lake charity provide a wide range of services to needy residents.
UWCC Director Terry Robinson said she’s thrilled with the relationship between the two groups.
“COVID, the county’s growth and the freeze put a lot of pressure on nonprofits,” she said. “Many of the 30 agencies in our area were hit hard, but everyone stepped up and escalated their activities. United Way is in a wonderful position to provide support to those organizations doing such work. We are so pleased to have CRRC out there with its amazing employees and volunteers.”
