WORD seeks public feedback on new amenities like this floating walkway at Canyon Park.

The Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) wants to know what you think about the new amenities at Comal and Canyon Parks.

The “community and visitation base” is asked to complete a short survey for data-collection purposes only.

New amenities and suggestions for other upgrades are the focus of the short survey. They include a floating walkway, fishing pier, hiking trail, playground, disc golf, butterfly garden, tetherball, picnic tables closer to the water, additional parking, lake-access improvements and a courtesy dock.

WORD also wants feedback on programming and events like Kite Day and the Halloween Haunted Trail.

WORD encompasses Canyon Lake and over 30 miles of floatable water on the Guadalupe River above and below Canyon Lake.

The district issues permits to water-related businesses, allowing them to collect user fees from customers visiting the district.

The funds are used for clean-up efforts, law enforcement and medical services, contributions to local projects and organizations, community education and outreach programs and public health-and-sanitation.
