Contractors working for the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) “filled a 30-yard roll-off dumpster three times” with trash collected from Canyon Lake’s shoreline this week.
That amount of trash “equated” to thousands of trash bags, 512 tires, and multiple dumpsters full of large debris, WORD said.
This fifth shoreline cleanup was financed using taxes paid by tourists.
WORD said it will continue to monitor conditions on the lake’s receding shoreline.
Pct. 4 Commissioner Jen Crownover thanked WORD for being “such an incredible partner for Comal County in managing the tourism in the unincorporated areas of the county.”
