Starting today, visitors to Canyon Park and Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #18—the only one still open around the lake—will use a new system to pay for entry fees.

The Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) said its new ParkMobile system is similar to those found in other parks, universities, stadiums and beaches.

ParkMobile allows WORD to keep Canyon Park open until Oct. 31 when the park closes for the off-season.

“We will rely on ParkMobile payments for park entry-fee collection Monday to Thursday and the gatehouse will be staffed Friday through Sunday,” WORD said on social media.

Park entry fees have not changed. They are $5 for vehicles with Comal County registration and $20 for all others.

WORD said the new zone system records license plates.
