WORD of Comal County reopened Canyon and Comal lakeside parks in Canyon Lake today so sightseers can see what the debris-filled, swollen waters look like after two days of heavy flooding in the Upper Guadalupe River.
Admission is free until 5 p.m. WORD, which operates the two parks, has not decided whether to reopen them Monday.
“All are welcome to enjoy the grills, picnic sites, volleyball, walking trails, and all other land amenities,” WORD said on social media. “But please refrain from entering the water as it may be unsafe and you will be asked to leave the park.
The 485-acre Canyon Park is located at Canyon Park Rd. on the north shore of Canyon Lake.
The 116-acre Comal Park, 11178 Comal Park Rd., is located on the south shore of Canyon Lake near Startzville.
