Rescue crews and divers are searching this morning for a 41-year-old man who drowned in Canyon Lake Sunday near Boat Ramp No. 1.

Canyon Lake Fire/EMS Chief Robert Mikel said crews Sunday conducted an unsuccessful sonar search in 80 feet of water.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is spearheading search-and-rescue efforts today and is sending divers to help recover the body of San Antonio resident Robert Berlingeri.

His sister, Sabrina Berlingeri, spoke to MyCanonLake.com this morning from a boat in Canyon Lake, where she is frantically searching for her brother.

She said witnesses told her Berlingeri fell off his boat along with his two-year-old child.

Another boater helped him get the toddler back on the boat, but when they turned around Berlingeri was gone.

“Anybody that can help us come find him, please,” she said, asking as many jet skiers and boaters to get out on the lake as soon as possible to assist in the search.

Berlingeri said she does not know if the victim and his daughter were wearing life jackets.

This is a breaking news story. Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.

  1. Hey Linda, how about you respect this family and offer your condolences instead of being such a negative pessimistic woman
