The search continues today for 22-year-old Aamir Ali, above, disappeared from Potters Creek Park in Canyon Lake after telling friends he was going for a walk near the lake.

The brother of a 22-year-old University of Houston student last seen Friday night at Potters Creek Park is asking Canyon Lake residents who live in that area to check their backyards, sheds and boat docks for signs of the missing man.

Qasim Ali is with searchers this afternoon. Park tent #48 is serving as the operations base.

His brother, Aamir Ali, who was on a camping trip with friends, told them he was going for a walk, then disappeared, leaving his clothes and cell phone sitting by the lake.

Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is spearheading the investigation.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Press Officer Jen Shugert said game wardens also are on scene.

“Texas game wardens began the ongoing search at the lake on Saturday,” she said.

CCSO did not immediately respond to a request for updates about the status of the search, but family friend Habiba Sibtain said boats are in the area, and TPWD has asked divers to remain on standby.
