Experts from the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA) will discuss efforts to ensure the New Braunfels area has enough water for at least 20 years at the July meeting of the Comal County Conservation Alliance (CCCA), 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McKenna Events Center, 801 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels.
The EAA is a regional groundwater agency that manages the Edwards Aquifer, considered one of the world’s most-prolific artesian aquifers
“For the past 10 years, EAA has focused on creating a shared value around effective management of the aquifer, especially in the face of environmental, economic and regulatory demands that are certainly affected by drought, population growth and the competing interests around these issues,” CCCA said in a statement. “EAA is working to change the culture to a dynamic and service-minded operation that values collaboration, transparency and responsiveness.”
The Edwards Aquifer is the source of the largest springs in Texas and the sole source of drinking water for more than 1.5 million Central Texas residents.
