Comal County Closes Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #8

Comal County closed Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #8 today less than a week after reopening it Thursday, Aug. 7 when July 4 floodwaters continued to fill the lake.

The lake rose to 897.71 feet on Thursday Aug. 7. But Canyon Lake is at 892.62 feet today, down from 899.66 Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The ramp is located in Canyon Springs Resort, 1298 Canyon Springs Dr., and officially closes 892.72 feet.

The ramp had been closed for an extended period of time due to drought. While closed, the trailer parking area was improved and a non-trailer parking lot was added.

The county operates nine of the 23 boat ramps serving Canyon Lake.

Other ramps reopened after floodwaters filled Canyon Lake, which is now 68.4% full, are:

  • #1         579 Skyline Dr., in Canyon Lake Village, Canyon Lake. Free. The courtesy dock is closed. (County)
  • #2        2410 Colleen Dr. in Canyon Lake Village West (Turkey Cove). Free. Watch for trees. (County)
  • # 14     Jacob’s Creek Park, 698 Jacob’s Creek Park. $20 for non-military. (JBSA)
  • #17      Little Jacob’s Creek Park, 401 Old Hancock Rd. Free. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (USACE)
  • #18      Canyon Park on the north side of Canyon Lake. $5 with Comal registration sticker, $20 without. Courtesy dock open. (WORD of Comal County)
