Strong winds and dry air associated with both a dryline and cold front will result in a prolonged period of critical fire-weather conditions across South Central Texas from this afternoon through Monday.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon today through 8 p.m. Monday.
Temperatures will fall from a high of 88 degrees at 4 p.m. today to a low of 41 degrees by 8 a.m. Monday.
Winds will blow from the west at 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph through early afternoon before shifting from the north at 20-35 mph with gusts of between 45-55 mph late afternoon through evening.
Low humidity of between 10-20% is forecast this afternoon. Humidity will rise only to near the 25-35% range.
Any fire that develops will spread quickly.
A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are occurring now or will shortly. A contribution of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
