The City of New Braunfels Community Emergency Response Team (NBCERT) is offering Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) G 317 Basic Training. This training is designed to empower community members to effectively prepare for and respond to local emergencies and disasters.

Training Overview

Friday, July 18th 6pm - 10pm- the first evening of training will consist of all classroom work:
• Emergency preparedness and what that means (individual and family)
• Identify the hazards that threaten our community
• Disaster Psychology
• Terrorism

Saturday, July 19th 8am - 6pm– some classroom work with more of hands-on/practical application:
• Team Organization and ICS – how the CERT team will be activated during emergencies
• Disaster Medical Operations I and II – triage and first aid component
• Light Search and Rescue Operations

Sunday, July 20th 8am – 6pm – training followed by an exercise to practice what has been taught:
• Fire suppression – fire extinguisher
• Course Review and Disaster Simulation Drill

Training will be held at the New Braunfels City Hall at 550 Landa. We encourage people of a wide range of ages and abilities to attend. Teens (13-15) must be accompanied by an adult. Dress Code for training requires closed toe shoes, comfortable shirt and long pants.
