Children headed back to the classroom this month can get vaccinated by Comal County’s Public Health Department.

Parents and guardians of schoolchildren in Comal County are urged to make sure their child is current on routine immunizations.

“Comal County Public Health Department is prepared to administer back-to-school vaccines over the next two weeks to help parents get ahead of the rush,” said Public Health Director Cheryl Fraser. “We encourage those who need vaccines to call and make an appointment. Our staff is experienced, trained, and prepared to help our community stay up-to-date on recommended vaccines.”

She said it’s important to vaccinate children against serious diseases like meningitis, measles, and whooping cough. In Texas, certain vaccines are required to attend school and participate in activities.
