Breakwater Grill & Cantina opened Friday after “unexpected challenges involving the Corps of Engineers (USACE)” delayed the official grand opening by at least a month.

Those issues were not publicly disclosed.

“We’ve got the green light and are overjoyed to announce that we’re officially open,” Breakwater shared on Facebook. “As your premier lakeside dining oasis, we’re thrilled to be a part of your local community, serving up delicious dishes and unforgettable moments.”

The new bar and restaurant is located at Canyon Lake Marina, 280 Marina, in the same location as Baja Icehouse & Grill, which closed in March.

Canyon Lake resident Austin Hanna, a part owner of Double Schott’s Sports & Bar Grill in New Braunfels, took over from Baja, which closed due to issues related to the bar.

The restaurant features a panoramic view of Canyon Lake and plenty of televisions for sports enthusiasts. Dogs on leashes are welcome.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The restaurant has yet to release details about happy hours and daily specials. Menus posted online feature seafood, street tacos and wings.
