Canyon Lake Man Charged in Shooting Death of His 51-Year-Old Father

A 25-year-old Canyon Lake man faces first-degree felony murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing his father, 51-year-old Paul Stautzenberger, at a residence in the 300 block of Campbell Drive in Canyon Lake today.

Yacob Hickman, Stautzenberger’s biological son, was booked into Comal County jail after Comal County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 12:10 a.m.

The scene was processed by Comal County Crime Scene Unit, according to a statement issued by CCSO spokesperson Jennifer Smith. An investigation is underway by detectives with CCSO’s Investigation Division.

Hickman was booked into Comal County jail. Bail was set at $250,000.

Hickman started a new job at Fischer’s Market Neighborhood Market in Startzville on June 23, according to his Facebook page.
