Scammers are calling area residents and leaving voice messages asking them to contact specific deputies with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The calls show up on caller ID as unknown numbers, CCSO Crime Prevention Specialist Jakob Willmann said.

These types of fraudulent and scam calls are designed to be as realistic as possible.

“The caller leaves a message advising them to contact a deputy — often this is the name of a real deputy — immediately at 830-271-8276,” he said. “This number does not belong to the CCSO. All calls from CCSO will display our name and number. Please do not respond to those that display as unknown.”

CCSO does not solicit payments for warrants or missing jury duty over the phone, in person, or through a payment kiosk.

To verify a call, email, or social media direct message, contact CCSO at 830-620-3400.

In November 2023, Willman warned of scammers who were advising residents that warrants would be issued if payments were not made either in person or through a kiosk at a location in San Antonio.
