CHS Music Teachers Lead Wimberley Community Chorus’ Winter Concert

Canyon High School (CHS) music teachers Jay Martin and Karla Cruz lead the Wimberley Community Chorus in a Holiday Classic Winter Concert with performances at 7 p.m. Dec. 8-9 and 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at Avery Hall-Chapel in the Hills, 14601 Ranch Rd 12, Wimberley.

Admission is free.

Songs include You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Twas the Night Before Christmas, Rutter’s Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mary’s Little Boy Child, singalong Christmas carols and more.

The lyrical and expressive Hanukkah song One Light feature’s men’s voices. Women will sing Winter Wonderland.

Martin and Cuz have collaborated for years at CHS, leading their choirs to consistently earn superior ratings at UIL competitions.

Martin, a New Braunfels resident, teaches choral music and class piano at CHS and also serves as a campus teacher leader and bus driver.

He frequently judges UIL vocal events.

Cruz, a San Marcos resident, has directed middle and high school choirs for 30 years and currently is an associate choir director and advanced piano teacher at CHS.

She works with the Texas Music Adjudicators Association and is choir director at Wimberley United Methodist Church.
