Canyon Lake High School (CLHS) students turned Comal ISD’s annual Night of Stars Banquet Tuesday into a night of beauty.

Floral design studentsThe event honored Comal ISD teachers and staff who were instrumental in student progress and performance but it was the talent and flair of students that stole the show.

Students from CLHS’ floral design/plant science program created and constructed floral arrangements for the event.

“This was a great opportunity to show what we do in floral design and showcase our students’ work,” said Alyssa Peterson, a career and technical education (CTE) teacher.

The centerpiece design included a decorative box created by students enrolled in the school’s construction program, another CTE class.

Construction science teacher Cory Mickey supervised seven students who made 40 boxes for the event: Randy Boyne, Brandon Bolt, Weston Brooks, Diego Fuentes, Gage Gibbons, Hagen Gill, and Jayden Hersel.

Floral design students who participated are Mario Aguilar, Ryan Alvarez, David Anderson, Gianna Cortez, Brianna Garcia, Logan Goss, Meghan Hodge, Alencia Lentz, Maria Luna Aguilar, Jordan Maes, Elijah Martin-Rider, Veronica Mejia, Madelyn Oberholtzer, Emily Pena, Makenna Pudlas, Dakota Rader, Nayelli Ramirez, Christian Roberts, Caden Rodriguez, Zachary Rodriguez, Emma Slater, Victoria Smelley, Caitlyn Stade, Mackenzy Sweet, Jesse Wean, Emily Wheat, and Daniella Trevino.
