CLHS Theater Students Place Fourth in State at May 6 UIL Competition

Canyon Lake High School (CLHS) theater students placed fourth at a state 4A UIL competition in Round Rock May 6 for their production of a one-act play directed by Theater Director Benjamin Matthews.

Twenty-four students acted in the play and served on the production crew.

Freshman Becker Russell, who played ‘Rudy’ in the production of “Over the Tavern,” was named to the all-star cast. Senior Starla Szopinski, who played ‘Sister Clarissa,’ was named to the
honorable mention all-star cast.

Other students involved in the production include Kathryn Battaglini, Estrella Beare, Ryleigh Borg, Kylie Bottorff, Dylan Burden, Cayla Davidson, Roman Hernandez, Maddox Kennedy, Thomas “TJ” Knebel, Micah Lee, Jana Lister, Jordyn Martin, Lisa Montoya, Becker Russell, Danielle Schlomach, Alexandria Sellers, Danielle Smith, Starla Szopinski, Seth Taylor, Nathan Theobald, Evelyn Van Houten, Emily Ward, James Williams and Dylan Wistrand.
