Comal County Reports 133 New COVID-19 Cases, One Death Wednesday

Comal County reported 133 new COVID-19 cases and one death today.

In a statement, the county confirmed the COVID-19 death of a New Braunfels man in his 70s who passed away Jan. 31 at his home.

The total number of deceased is now 510. The total number of cases reported since March 2020 is 28,816.

On Wednesday, local hospitals report caring for 37 COVID-positive patients. Of those, eight are in intensive care and seven are on ventilators. Approximately 70% of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all of them are necessarily county residents.

Some 63.19% of Comal County residents are fully vaccinated.

Comal County residents who want to get tested for COVID-19 can visit the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s website, meds.tdem.texas.gov to find a testing location near them.

The Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for those ages five and up. Booster vaccines also are available.
