Comal County rescinded its burn ban Tuesday after Monday’s heavy rainfall resulted in a dramatic decrease in the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI).

The KBDI measures the amount of precipitation necessary to return the soil to full field capacity.

The county’s KBDI fell from over 500 — the number used to implement a burn ban — to just over 400 points.

Almost two inches of rain was reported in Startzville/Canyon Lake with New Braunfels seeing almost 1 1/2 inches in some places.
